Websites That Work For You
“I need a website.”
(followed by a long pause…)
That’s how conversations often start with new website clients.
You’ve tried it on your own. Your family, friends, and biz coach all tell you a website is the answer you are looking for.
But, let me know if any of this sounds familiar…
- I’ve tried the “Have a website up and running in 5 minutes” approach and it went nowhere.
- I’ve looked at all the WordPress templates I can find and still feel stuck on what to do next.
- I’m ready to bring to bring my business online or refresh my current site but it feels like an overwhelmingly BIG project and I keep putting it off.
- I know a website could help me and my business but I’m just not sure how, why, or what it takes to build a healthy, effective, and manageable website.
There’s so much advice online and in coaching groups about websites but you still feel more confused about what to do.

Yep. I get it and here’s why…
Back in 2008 I made a rather sudden decision to quit my job and start a business that I could run from my kitchen table.
I was determined to create a business, and schedule, that gave me the freedom to play a bigger caregiving role for aging family members who needed more of my time and attention. That “rash” decision opened the door to some grand adventures, including:
- Starting a virtual assistant business that quickly pivoted into WordPress website development and support.
- Working with 100s of clients to create websites and help bring their businesses online.
- Adding business and website coaching services after realizing I love talking to my clients about their business dreams and plans. It’s my favorite part of the website projects I’m involved with.
- Writing a book, “The WordPress Website Discovery Guide: 7 Steps to Easily Plan A Website That Works For You”.
- Starting a small mastermind for Christian Women Entrepreneurs that is changing lives, including my own.
This journey has included two major rebrands that required a total redesign of my website.
I know what means to start from the ground up and I know what it means to take a current site an change it and update it fit your business and how it changes and grows..
Each time I’ve walked myself through the same process and list of questions I take each of my clients during their website projects.
Every client and website is unique. There’s no theme, design, or layout that works for everyone. The questions we ask, the decisions we make are tailored to you, your business, and your marketing goals.
Websites are a part of doing business.
You DO need one.
It’s not good to place all of your “business eggs” into one basket like social media.
Algorithms change, accounts get shut down, and platforms go down.
With a website you can address all of those fears and issues.
A good website puts in you in the drivers seat.
Do you still need social media? Probably but you take them to your website.
With a website you are building your brand online, on your platform, and building your email list.

Your website should be your online home base.
But it needs to have a solid foundation that grows with you as you and your business grow.
Your website needs to be an asset of your business.
As a website coach and designer, my goal is to help you understand your business better and talk about it confidently on your website so that your website visitors and future clients understand it too.
Here are a few kind words from my clients
You really saved me!
I was in such a bad position and you made it so much easier.

First and foremost I want to say that you have been such a blessing to me!!!
I love my new website and I’m truly beyond thankful to have met you.
You really saved me! I was in such a bad position and you made it so much easier.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I have a website that I am proud to share with the world! It’s not only pretty, but it serves a purpose.

Before I worked with Marta I had a lot of frustration and overwhelm when it came to my website! I spent a ton of time and effort reworking it, and reworking it, and reworking it some more. 10 staging sites in all, trying to get it the way I wanted! It was never right and it didn’t have a flow that made much sense at all. Therefore, I hesitated sharing it with the world for a long time.
Working with Marta was a pleasure because she has an amazing gift in asking the right questions and also knowing how to keep you on track vs. wandering down rabbit holes. She guided me through how my website’s flow should go in a way that was clear, concise and easy to understand.

Hey, before you go!
There are a few other important things you should know…

- I live along the South Central Oregon Coast so I share a lot of photos of the amazing places I get to see every day.
- I’m a dog mom and we head out on daily morning walks. I use both the camera on my phone and my “big camera” slung around my neck to capture the beauty we see along the way. You can follow along with our adventures on Instagram.
- I’m a sci-fi and fantasy
nerdfan (hello you Scruffy Looking Nerf Herder). Don’t ask me to choose between Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of The Rings, Marvel, X-Files, Stargate SG-1/Atlantis, Doctor Who, or The Hunger Games, or… - And I should warn you, that you probably would get annoyed if you ever watched Star Wars (aka The OG, aka A New Hope, aka Episode 4) with me as I tend to quote the entire movie. Yeah, I’ve watched it more than once ;).
- I talk about and share stories about my dogs Oliver and Mochi. A lot. Sorry, not sorry.
- Dark chocolate is best.
- And my favorite name is “Auntie Marta”, which is good because there are over 21 kiddos, adults, and adults who have their own kiddos, who call me that now. :)
If you stick around long enough you’ll hear me say these more than once…
- “Great!” or “That’s awesome.” or “Awesome pawsome.” or “That is so cool.” (yeah I’m
oldretro) - “Pause, Reflect, Create, Grow”. This is the framework of a lot of what I do.
- “Keep it simple. Keep it sustainable, and steward it well.” – this is the theme, the heart, the motto of Selah Studios, and is the filter I use to keep my sanity.
- “Rest IS an action step that should be on your calendar.”
Your Website Is (or should be)
an Asset for Your Business
You know it’s time to tackle your website but I bet there are some questions running through your head:
- Where do I start?
- What questions do I need to ask?
- What resources and tools do I need?
- Where can I get help?
So, What Do You Need To Do?
Get clear about how your website is doing and figure out if it’s doing anything for you other than occupying space on the internet.
